After checking in at Grand Hoyah Hotel, we decided to stroll around Harbor Point mall. It was almost dinner time so we decided to grab some dinner before heading back to the hotel. There are various of options to pig out since we were already inside the mall, but because we want to try something new, we opt for a restaurant only found in Subic.
So kinontact ko na naman ang bespren kong si google. Trip Advisor to the rescue! Texas Joe’s – House of Ribs ang numero uno sa listahan. It’s quite popular kasi lahat ng tinanong namin na kuya guard, alam kung paano ma-reach ang kainan na ‘to. Walking distance lang daw from the mall. Medyo mas malayo nga lang ang nilakad namin papuntang Texas Joe’s compared sa distance ng Grand Hoyah Hotel at Harbor Point. Pero carrybels lang kasi lamang lang sya ng mga limang kembot.
It was our first time to dine here. The restaurant is an Authentic smokehouse which takes pride of its tender briskets, pit-smoked pulled pork and ribs. The interior were very country-style, more of a Texas saloon. It also has a bar, a pool table and flat screen TVs; pak na pak for a night of drinking and unwinding.
I noticed that the staff were mostly women wearing cowboy-style outfits. Very accommodating ang mga ate. We were handed with the menu after we were seated. The place were really jam-packed. But you have options whether to dine inside the restaurant or outside, al fresco style.
We had a hard time in choosing what to order since everything in the menu seemed good. We all ended up on getting some ribs, one of their best-sellers. The ribs are grilled to perfection: smoky, firm and feisty. The sweet and sour barbecue sauce was well balanced. Spiciness was tolerable. Their half slab of baby ribs are good for sharing. Texas Joe’s offers a generous serving of delectable ribs for a reasonable price. The average cost per person is P300-P400.
Home-made sauces are also available and they’re really yummy. Comes in Original, Carolina Honey and Habanero Hot flavors. A combination of Carolina and Habanero was my choice. Sa sobrang sarap ng sauce, ginawa ko na syang soup of the day. Hahahahahah.
To cap it all off, our dining experience at Texas Joe’s was great. We enjoyed our meals and left the restaurant full and happy. We’ll definitely come back here and try other specialties on our next visit to Subic.
